      Please join us at 11am ET on January 15th for the quarterly call.  For the first half of the call Caleb Warner, Board president will be discussing the results of the Board Election as we welcome and  introduce the new board members – Terrell Brown from Exel/DHL and Ryan Oswald from ConAgra Foods, and our re-elected members Caleb Warner from RockTenn, Brenda Sorensen from Kraft, and George Moser from Hitachi Consulting.  In addition we will spend some time talking about the existing board and their roles and responsibilities as well as upcoming events.

      The second half of the call will be facilitated by Chris Peckham of Product Strategy.  He will be covering the highlights and features of version 6.3.  This highly anticipated version has just been released!  This robust new release contains new functionality and enhancements throughout OTM and GTM including the following buckets.  Our plan for the call is to focus primarily on OTM product additions and enhancements as we will have thirty minutes.  In the future we plan to have a call on GTM where we can dig into the 6.3 new functionality and perhaps a customer use case.

      1. OTM Euro Conference Opening

      We, OTM SIG board, are happy to announce the first European OTM User Conference. We’ve gone a long way to bring this conference nearer to a large number of OTM users in Europe. The yearly OTM User Conference in the U.S. is already well established since 2007, attracting an audience of almost 400 people. The European Conference is the excellent opportunity to bring together all European OTM users. We are sure that many of us have accumulated a lot of interesting topics for discussion, which we, as users could not discuss before together. The conference will bring together representatives of OTM clients from all over Europe and beyond: we have much in common, but each has its own unique specificity, their experience and approaches that will be interesting to other OTM users. The First European conference will bring together people from different areas of the business, so we are sure you’ll find interesting for you. Participation of Oracle and the leading consulting companies in the conference will allow discussing current issues and opportunities, as well as learning about new offers and developments.

      One of the OTM SIG founders, Beth McLamb, has been instrumental to the organisation of this conference. She has chosen not to run in the most recent election cycle, and her presence will be deeply missed. In recognition of her past and present work for the OTM SIG, she has recently been recognized for her efforts with a lifetime achievement award by the remaining board members. Congratulations Beth and Thank you for all your hard work!


      2. OTM Release 6.3 Overview

      BIO. Mr. Derek Gittoes is Vice President, Logistics Product Strategy for Oracle’s Applications Division, where he is responsible for Oracle’s transportation management and global trade management products. Prior to joining Oracle in 2003, Mr. Gittoes was Vice President, Product Solutions at Global Logistics Technologies (G-Log), where he was responsible for product marketing. Mr. Gittoes was also a founder and Managing Director of Transport Dynamics, a company that specialized in the development of real-time optimization software for transportation companies. Mr. Gittoes holds a Master of Science in Engineering degree from Princeton University, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Manitoba.

      ABSTRACT. This session will provide an overview of the key features provided in the latest release (6.3) of Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). Example feature topics include: mobility, network routing, shipunit building, user interface, technology improvements and more. This session will also cover updates to OTM documentation, training and general development updates, including how OTM and GTM Rollups for 6.3 will change in 2013 and beyond.

      3. OTM at Volvo (ATLAS)

      onnl1630 BIO: Sven Börjeson, Chief Project Manager, Atlas Development Project – Volvo Group, Logistics Services. Sven Börjeson, Volvo Group Logistics Services, has more than 15 years of experience within global logistics. Sven has held various management positions within Volvo Group and also been responsible for projects in Europe, Russia, US, Brazil and Japan.
      Leon Kohlen (Oracle) has over 20 years of experience in Logistics and Shipper business – operational and consulting and started at G-Log in Mar-’04 and worked before that 4,5 years at business management consultancy company PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Europe. Experience with 4 LSP companies implementing OTM in Europe and Australia. Broad industry knowledge in logistics and several industries (retail, logistics, automotive, high-tech, etc.) and has in depth application and industry knowledge of OTM and experienced in OTM-solution designing, plus experienced with solutions with other Oracle applications. Implemented also for 1 year at Volvo.

      ABSTRACT: Volvo Europe went live July 2012 for the road inbound OTM project called “ATLAS”. ATLAS Release 4 is the first phase of two phases in total. The second phase will go live in 2013. ATLAS Release 4 is about Volvo’s inbound transports from European suppliers to Volvo plants via a road supply chain network of service provider cross-docks and direct deliveries. The first project phase will cover POC (Proof of Collection) and POD (Proof of Delivery) at first cross-dock in a European road supply chain network. Order Releases get planned into Order Movements and via OM bulkplan in OTM plant into collection shipments from supplier to first the first cross-dock. Actuals are updated at POC and POD. The second project phase covers the rest of the European road supply chain from first cross-dock via a Volvo cross-dock to the final Volvo plant. In the second phase will also integration be included as more visibility functionality and settlement related functionality. Besides the 2 mentioned phases Volvo is also studying and performing “deep-sea”-functionality and further global out-roll of ATLAS (OTM) like into APAC and South-America.

      4. OTM and SOA

      BIO: Mark Hagan has been a GLog/Oracle employee since Dec 2001 working as Technical Consulting Manager and Senior Technical Consultant until transferring to Product Development in July 2007. Currently works in the Technology area developing and supporting software for Integration, Workflow and Infrastructure.

      ABSTRACT: Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) implementations are gaining popularity. OTM application integration with these implementations requires an increased level of support for industry standards; specifically Web Services Security (WSS). This presentation describes the WSS capabilities added to OTM v6.3 and how this differs from, and expands on previous support. It also discusses some potential future enhancements in this area (e.g. XML schema design).

      5. Taking control over transportation spend

      BIO: Evgeniy Pospelov is the Specialist in Logistics Business Process Development for Kraft Foods Russia. Having graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics, Evgeniy joined Kraft Foods Russia in 2008 as an Information Systems specialist. As part of the team responsible for Information Systems, Integration and Master Data Management, Evgeniy worked with his colleagues in Kraft Foods North America to define the OTM implementation plan for the Russian region. Having taken OTM live in June 2009, Evgeniy then took on the role of Project Manager for the second phase of implementation, which includes further development and deployment across the CIS region. In 2012 Evgeniy was elected as a board member of the OTM Special Interest Group (SIG) with responsibility for the European region activities.

      ABSTRACT: In 2009 Kraft Foods Russia made the decision to implement professional transportation system to cover growing business needs. OTM was chosen as the most progressive system on the market. In a year Kraft covered all the transportation and logistics flows. The implementation allowed to control transportation, customs, warehouse and financial operations inside one system, making Kraft goods delivering transparent and easy-to-understand.

      6. OTM / SAP Integration Best Practice

      BIO: Neil Hatcher has been delivering complex technical OTM deployments for more than 8 years. Neil has an operational IT background from DHL prior to joining MavenWire. He has significant knowledge and experience within OTM and has subsequently been the Architect for some of the largest OTM deployments.
      Rob van Haaster is a long term Glogger, working with OTM in Europe for more than 8 years. Rob is a Functional Solution Architect working on global OTM projects. Prior to OTM Rob was an SAP R3 consultant. Rob is based in Belgium.

      ABSTRACT: SAP have recently revised their integrations for connection to TMS. In this presentation we will walk through the best practice process’s that are now available to SAP / OTM users. We will walkthrough a couple of case studies and highlight the decision points for integration. The processes supported by SAP/OTM integration will also be relevant for OTM/EBS with Fusion and other ERP systems connecting to OTM.

      9. OTM self help and information about OTM support

      onnl1923 BIO: Elisabeth Plessis has over 14 years of support experience with Transportation software. She has been a G-Log/Oracle employee since June 2004 working as a Support Manager, initially setting up the European Support office with G-Log and then taking over the global support management for OTM under Oracle.

      10. Data Management for Dummies

      BIO: Lourens Andriesse has nine years of experience in all phases of pre-sales, design, development, and implementation of OTM in Americas, Europe and Australia. He is skilled in a large variety of activities, from executive briefings and presentations, full scale project management, facilitating sessions for process designs and business requirement definitions, mentoring new consultants up to coding SQL. Lourens holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering and brings an extensive knowledge about the logistics industry.

      ABSTRACT: “OTM is like a Ferrari, but the fuel is pumped with a dripper”. These were the words of one of the presenter’s first client complaining about the time-consuming rate loading process. The presentation will unveil the audience the mystery about OTM Data Management, or rather, how to get your data in and out of OTM. The better you understand how OTM stores its data, the better you are able to manage it yourself with simple tools and you learn to appreciate the sophisticated third party tools that are offered today. If you don’t know what SQL, UTF-8, CSV stands for, then you’re exactly where the presenter was eight years ago, and he’ll lead you by the hand using real examples. After having seen the presentation, you won’t be a Data Management guru, but at least you’re able to understand what these chaps are talking about.

      11. Convert Waste into Value using OTM

      BIO: Naval Sabharwal heads the Transportation and Logistics solutions group. Naval is a post graduate in Material Management and has over 28 years of experience in Supply Chain and Logistics operations and consulting business. He has worked in various companies like Safexpress, Reliance Logistics, Anantara Solutions, Unipart Logistics etc. Naval has served in the Logistics stream of the Indian Air Force for 20 years with varied responsibilities to design and provide end to end supply chain services.

      ABSTRACT: This is a bout between Mr. TIMWOOD in the blue corner and Mr. OTM in the red corner. Mr. TIMWOOD has knocked out many opponents and has an unbeatable record. Mr. TIMWOOD is a virus who eats into all the hard-work that Transportation managers put into their business. He is not visible and his stealth features makes it difficult to detect him while the Transport managers feel its negative impact daily. He is immune to majority of anti-virus and tends to hide when it is attacked and then hits back with vengeance. Mr. TIMWOOD is WASTE. Value stream maps of transportation operations reveal that nearly 70%-85% of the activities in transportation operations are non-value added caused Mr. TIMWOOD. These 7 wastes are: Transportation which is excess is waste, Inventory held due to delayed move is waste, Motion of people who undertake monotonous work is waste, Waiting of inventory is waste, Over production by deploying higher capacity is waste, Over Processing by repeating the same activity is waste, and Defects due to errors as a result of inadequate & accurate inputs is waste. Mr. OTM has capabilities not just to knock out Mr. TIMWOOD but also create security fences. With Mr. TIMWOOD out the non-value added activities reduce drastically which has not just a direct impact on improvement of On time and In Full transportation performance but also major savings of $$$$$.

      12. Proof of Delivery OTM Mobililty Solution

      Transportation Management has become a complex process involving worldwide networks of shippers and logistics service providers moving raw materials, parts, and finished goods through a global supply chain.       13. Implications of the European Commission’s Freight Transportation Priorities for 2050

      BIO: F&L is a neutral non-profit forum, registered in Brussels in 1994, which brings together a wide range of companies across Council of Europe 47 territory to discuss and debate supply chain issues. F&L is not a lobby group, although we do have relationships with a wide range of organisations who are interested in the outcomes of our discussions. The F&L Think Tank is a permanent group composed of frequently changing shippers and transport providers for each mode. Their role is to stimulate discussion and to give updates at F&L meetings on topics including supply versus demand, innovation, new technology and legislation.       Martin Kvych (Director LKW-Walter Internationale Transportorganisation AG) directs the R&D group at market leading company LKW-Walter and since 2001 has been in charge of European Key Account Management. An expert in the consumer goods industry, Mr Kvych is an active member of different European industry groups with a supply chain and transportation background. He has extensive operational and sales experience across Europe and a degree from Vienna Business School.
      Armand Toubol (Vice-President New Opera AISBL, Honorary Member European Freight and Logistics Leaders Forum), is a proven expert in the rail freight and logistics business. He has been Freight Director of SNCF, Executive Board Member of SNCF for 10 years, Board Member of GEODIS, ERMEWA and TRANSFESA, Chairman of CNC, Chief Executive Officer of SNCF, part of Sealink, Director of Dunkirk Port Authority and Vice-Chairman of Intercontainer/Interfrigo. Today, Armand works as a consultant and is involved in different national and international research activities. Mr Toubol has been Chairman of PREDIT (French programme of research, experimentation and innovation in land transport) and responsible for transport technology. He is a member of the Scientific Committee for the French freight model elaborated by RFF and is leading the European Marathon project for long trains.
      Philippe Robert is currently Operations Manager at GEFCO, involved in road and rail transportation. He has been Project Leader where he re-engineered the rail flows for cars transportation in Europe – this was considered by the international press as a major breakthrough in the French rail landscape. His experience also includes Assets Manager (wagons and trucks) and Reusable Packaging Operations Manager where he conducted overhaul of industrial sites in Europe. Past work includes maintenance and production management roles for metal, chemical and pharmaceutical industries , and IT projects leadership. Philippe has MBA and MS Manufacturing Engineering degrees from universities in the USA and France, and holds dual citizenship from Australia and France.

      ABSTRACT: At the Oracle conference, the group will provide a very brief overview of the White Paper 2011. The goal of the White Paper is to enhance European competitiveness and with this in mind, the group will discuss some of the key aspects of the White Paper for industry such as: sustainability, innovation, dedicated freight corridors and terminals, harmonisation and financing.

      15. 3-Dimensional Load Configurator Functionality

      BIO: Pam Vivio has been working with the OTM application since 2001. She was one of the original G-Log employees. She has worked with companies throughout the U.S. and Asia, sharing her product knowledge and best practices from dozens of OTM clients. Pam was instrumental in the development of OTM’s 3D Load Configurator functionality, acting as a liaison between Oracle Product Development and her client, Sears Corporation. Pam currently works for Capgemini Consulting and is based in Michigan.

      ABSTRACT: This session will provide a simplified overview of configuring OTM to take advantage of the 3D Load Configurator functionality. Attendees will learn the advantages of using 3D Load Configurator functionality as well as the new features.

      ABSTRACT: By implementing OTM there are several side changes to look at. Next to organizational changes, there is often impact on customers, on operational procedures and on the number of employees (e.g. personnel reduction or personnel construction). The employee itself for example, who has to deal with those changes, is forgotten most of the time. Nevertheless, the human factor is thereby a key for the success of a project and has particularly impact on the economic success, as well as other different stakeholder who have the power to influence the progress of a project. Thus active management of the change process is getting more and more important. By using the example of the current OTM implementation project of Lufthansa Technik Logistik, concrete change management methods and tools and their advantages and disadvantages will be explained. A self-developed seven step change management model for IT projects will be presented, which includes for example a stakeholder analysis, which serves as a base for the recommendation of suitable change management tools, an in between review and a final success verification.

          Today, more and more Logistics Carriers are taking advantage of the 3rd Party Logistics network to assist their customers with enhanced ways of moving freight, optimizing shipments and providing visibility of the entire process. The goal of this presentation is to highlight the framework of working with Third Party Logistics companies to implement a transportation solution effectively, satisfying all customer requirements, as well as utilizing the key functionality in OTM. This presentation will review key aspects of planning out the project, designing and building the best solution with the customer in mind, preparing for go-live and “lessons learned” to avoid.
        • Using EDI in OTM to Drive Carrier Performance by Jennifer Norris (RockTenn)
          My current role at RockTenn is to transition carrier from email tendering to EDI tendering. During that transition, I get the opportunity to work with EDI analysts and help with mapping and EDI requirements. I also train and test with the carriers in order to get them ready for production. During the testing phase, I help the carrier with CSR training. Part of the training has to deal with what to expect on the carrier’s EDI screens and what we expect and when from the carrier. Once I complete all the OTM setup, testing with the carrier, and CSR training, carriers are ready to go live in production. After a carrier is in production for two weeks, they are added to our compliance program where I provide them with statistics that include the total # of shipments they have moved for us, the # of shipments that they have sent us all 6 status messages, and their % of compliance. I also share with them their tender recap report that shows total shipments, % time-outs, and % decline. I also pull 214 error reports that help me see if the data they are sending us is causing the status events not to post to the shipments. I will show examples of what I send the carriers and the all the possible issues that I help the carriers to resolve.

          The presentation discusses the different mechanisms of integration, benefits of Direct XML insert, Oracle Advanced Queue and Data Queues in a high transaction volume OTM implementation involving a middleware solution. The topic considers factors such as transaction volume, transaction prioritization, exception notification and recovery mechanism to illustrate how the integration features of Direct XML inserts and Oracle Advanced Queue can provide the OTM integration process the ability to handle growing transaction volumes in an efficient manner.

        • OTM Integration using Python and XSLT by Eric Rosenbloom (Inspirage)
          This technically oriented talk focuses on the use of Python and XSLT to integrate upstream and downstream processes with OTM. Python is used for transforming flat files into non-GLog XML. XSL is used to transform non-GLog XML into GLog XML. Python also provides data transport mechanisms. The author presents working examples that you can use as a template to build your own integrations via an open source approach.

          Office Depot, Inc. provides office supplies and services in 60 countries around the world through its 1,628 worldwide retail stores, a dedicated sales force, top-rated catalogs, and global e-commerce operations. In the fiscal year 2012, the company sold USD 10.7 billion of products and services to consumers and businesses of all sizes through its three business segments: North American Retail Division, North American Business Solutions Division and International Division. Sales are processed through multiple channels that are supported by its network of supply chain facilities and delivery operations. As of 2009, Office Depot has been using core OTM functionality for basic carrier selection. On an average, about 90,000 orders are delivered per day across all 13 DCs and during peak season, this number can reach 120,000+. Some interesting facts about the company’s North American transportation footprint: Of the ~90,000 orders, 30,000 are delivered via UPS, 56,000 are delivered via dedicated/comingled; OD services about 1100 routes across 4 times zones; OD receives delivery status updates as well as POD status updates from the dedicated/commingled carrier. Dedicated/Commingle Carriers make up about 65% of OD deliveries daily. OD ships ~1200 LTL orders daily.
          In a later phase, OD enabled OTM Operational Planning for small parcel route optimization based on pre-determined business rules. The solution went live in March 2013 and all customer fulfillment centers started to manage small parcel routing, along with other core Parcel mode functionalities, using OTM in May 2013. In this presentation, we will review how Office Depot has utilized OTM’s native Parcel route optimization and execution capabilities to achieve process automation and cost savings. We will also offer some insight into the unique design concepts that were applied to achieve Parcel versus LTL mode selection at the Order level.

          LATAM clients are constantly asking for Turn-by-Turn directions to be included in OTM. Although this functionality has recently been rolled out in version 6.2.7, LATAM countries have not been included. We understand part of the root cause is NAVTEQ’s initial design supports only one dataset per instance. Oracle is currently working on creating a Global Single eLocation/Spatial Instance to include multiple datasets such as North America (NA Q4/20xx), Europe (EU Q4/20xx), World Market (WM Q4/20xx) and Australia (AUS Q2/20xx). Based on this rollout it would be some time before the Public eLocation/Spatial roadmap for LATAM countries would be included.
          Objective: A review of the background of OTM related with Oracle eLocation/Spatial will be presented. This will include how it integrates with OTM, the functionality of eLocation and components consisting of current boundary and data provided by it. The reason why LATAM Turn-by-Turn directions are not present in an “out of the box” installation will be discussed and the options to resolve it which includes: * To install a private eLocation instance of the desired maps (e.g. Mexico) * To implement a web service in OTM to support NAVTEQ maps
          A Use Case will then be discussed to demonstrate how OTM version 6.3 can provide Map and driving directions. Components to implement the web service option will be reviewed which are: * Acquire corresponding NAVTEQ dataset for related country/cities * Implement a Web Service that imports the necessary information to the exact action and screen the users of OTM are familiar with.
          Another key point that will be presented is the new OTM functionality when leveraging this component such as additional map content & functionality, real time traffic, shipment planned vs. actual and routing information. The presentation will include demonstration of “Map Shipments” action from both OTM UI screens and Mobile Devices to provide a showcase of 6.3 version benefits “in action”. This includes how this functionality can be viewable by the truck driver en route on a delivery, which also happens to be a LATAM requirement in many cases. In addition the “Last Mile Routing Functionality” will be explained so that OTM will keep using “External Distance Engines” for planning purposes.

The presentation will provide a case study on the deployment of Beckman Coulters deployment of Oracle GTM 6.3 into an existing OTM utilized environment. We will take a deep dive into the complex business requirements which Beckman Coulter defined, and how the Oracle GTM 6.3 solution delivered against those demands in an active OTM environment.         • Leveraging Milestone Monitors for Visibility at Cisco by Anuj Garg & Sree Guru (Infosys)
          This implementation is for a Hi-tech network equipment manufacturer (CISCO), who uses a number of Contract Manufacturers to produce the necessary goods and transports the same across the world to its numerous customers using different modes of transportation through various service providers. As part of global logistics transformation, Cisco wants to monitor the goods all the way from manufacturer until it reaches the customer and it is within the SLA. OTM is used as one stop shop for all the logistics related activities. Cisco needs to monitor the movement of its goods across the supply chain as it being transported. The main events which Cisco needs to track are the following: * WHEELS UP – when the plane has taken off with the shipment from the origin airport (where customs was cleared) and is in flight to the destination airport (DDP Departed/Aircraft departure) * WHEELS DOWN – Aircraft has landed in the destination airport (AAV Arrival/AircraftArrival) * CLEARED IMPORT CUSTOMS – when the shipment has cleared Customs of the destination (CRF Customs/Released from customs) * DELIVERED TO CUSTOMER – when the carrier has handed the shipment over to the customer including delivered to customers broker/carrier (DAS Delivered/Receiver acknowledges receipt)
          These events are communicated by the carrier through 3B3 rosettanet messages and these need to be integrated into OTM. However, these messages need to come sequentially and in the above mentioned sequence only. If the sequence is not correct an email notification is sent to the service provider. Time based SLA varies for each lane and between the sequence and these need to be monitored so that when the SLA is not met a notification is sent out to the service provider. Hence, the Milestone Monitor is configured to meet the above requirements. Since there are a number of itineraries through which goods are transported across the world a number of milestone templates are needed to be maintained to handle the SLA validation in OTM. A number of challenges were met while implementing Milestone Monitors as a solution since Milestone Monitor does not handle calendar as an out of box functionality. This is one of the unique implementations where Milestone Monitor has been handled so extensively

        • Upgrading from 5.5 to 6.2 in a High Performance Environment – Nightmares with End of Life Machines (ELM) by Venkat Kanakam (Office Depot)
          In this paper, real life experiences of Upgrading OTM from version 5.5 to 6.2.5 at OFFICEDEPOT are presented, highlighting the unique challenges and solutions in upgrading OTM in an environment where there is a mix of older and newer hardware. Because of the certification requirements of 5.5 and 6.2 for Solaris Operating systems, a two stage approach for upgrade is used utilizing both old and new hardware. Some test servers are in end-of-life stage but should be used in Upgrade process. OFFICEDEPOT OTM system is a high transaction volume environment and performance is critical so the methodology, problems faced and solutions applied will be discussed. Oracle SOA BPEL is used as integration platform at OFFICEDEPOT for integrating OTM with a mainframe legacy shipping execution system and the lessons learned in upgrading the BPEL code will be explained. The Upgrade project which started as a simple exercise soon became complicated due to nightmares with hardware, performance bench marks and related integration system upgrades. Once new Solaris hardware is acquired, innovative Solaris virtualization techniques like LDOM/ZONE are used to extract maximum utilization from new hardware, facilitating effective instance planning. After all the planning and testing, the final upgrade of Production system did not go so smooth and the experiences with production upgrade which lasted about 40 hours will be detailed in the paper.

          The “Implementation of OTM Dock Scheduling at Giant Eagle” has been a process which has evolved over several Years. In 2008, we centralized the appointment scheduling process from 6 separate warehouses to one central call center. With the centralization of the scheduling process, the appointments were now assigned in OTM and interfaced to WM instead of being entered in WM and interfaced to OTM. At this point we address a significant change in management while changing the process very little. Appointments were still assigned based on based on a spreadsheet Appointment chart. The initial benefits reduced labor, created process standards, defining appointments that meet Supplier, Carrier, and Customer needs and centralized the process in one system On March 17, 2012, following an upgrade to V6.2.6 we implemented OTM Dock Scheduling. Primary reason was to address overbooking appointments. Planning for the Schedule design was our biggest challenge. These challenges Involve the difference between how the warehouse wants to balance their inbound volume and how actual appointment assignment is done. How to create flexibility for Appointment limits. Plus a few tips and tricks we learned from other users.

          Agent Tracking is a way to monitor the workflow performance by inserting the additional logic to the OTM agents. KSAP Technologies Inc. created a simplified user interface which facilitates user to add the logic to the required agents which user wants to track for performance monitoring. Agent Tracking is achieved by the logic which creates a START row in the Agent Tracking table (custom table) at the s of the agent and then updating the row to COMPLETE at the end of the agent. The Agent Tracking table is updated via stored procedure call trigger from Agent action (DSU)
          Objective: * Capture agent performance metrics to monitor, analyze, and react to downward trends in performance. * To identify agents those were in progress at the time of an unexpected system outage.
          Use this information to rapidly recover from a catastrophic system failure without losing data. * Provide Alert notification on: * Unfinished agents that have been running longer than a given time threshold * Agents that ran successfully, but took longer than expected to run (daily summary)
          Benefits: Helps to identify poor performing workflows and fine tune them and Reduce overall support effort and thus the Support cost.
          Point to be noted: Need regular purging from Agent Tracking table. Each agent being monitored will create a new row in the Agent Tracking table and given the frequency of agent execution expected; there will be many monitoring data rows created. The Agent Tracking table will quickly grow. The data purge process will keep this table from growing indefinitely

        • Network Routing – A Grocery Distribution Use Case by Al Drummond (Oracle)
          The “Grocery Distributor” is patterned after the requirements of several current customers who are in the process of evaluating or implementing 6.3 for Network Routing. The capabilities that are highlighted in this presentation are primarily the features that are part of the 6.3.2 work so they are new to network routing. The new features in 6.3.2 are Allocation in Routing which covers path selection, the use of different equipment for different carriers, different routes and facilities by different carriers, and the selection of pre-carriage and on-carriage carriers based on the carrier selection for the primary move. Additionally OTM will be able to split and recombine pallets under certain conditions to increase the utilization of equipment with palletized freight while also managing the top loading weight constrains of the freight. The grocery distribution example uses items with “household recognition” to configure loads which lead to easy to follow examples. The format of the presentation will consist of a business example with a blend of results and configuration but not to the extent of a TOI.

        • Demurrage Management – A Chemical Company Use Case by Al Drummond (Oracle)
          The “chemical company” is patterned after the requirements of several current customers who were on 5.5 when the requirements for 6.3 were done and have only recently migrated to 6.2.x so they are not yet able to take advantage of the Demurrage Transaction capabilities. This presentation is intended to serve as a “how to” type of document for the eventual implementation of existing clients but more important, it will serve as a capability presentation for sales prospects. The format of the presentation is how OTM solved the issue of asset and product visibility at the manufacturer’s site as well as at a customer’s site. Manufacturers would like to keep track of the inbound flow of raw materials as they are in transit and as they are stored in equipment that may be on site and off site. OTM has the capability to provide a permanent inventory history of such assets and product and this provides the user with the tools (database and UI) to see and manage the inbound pipeline. Additionally, when the shipper sells bulk product to customers, the shipping equipment (tanker or hopper) usually is offered as a temporary storage facility at the destination subject to a “reasonable” time limit. Manufacturers must rent their assets and the cost of ownership is factored into the sales price of the product so excess “detention” of assets drives up the cost of the product. Significant savings can be achieved by OTM’s visibility of the assets while “on site” and “off site”. Clients who implement Demurrage can realize significant benefits from that far exceed savings in Demurrage. This presentation is a “how to” presentation of the capabilities of OTM that is set in the example of an industry and told from that perspective.

          OTM has a very robust Fuel Surcharge setup which makes weekly/monthly rate factor updates very easy, but clients continue to manually update Fuel Surcharges periodically by loading thousands of rates via CSV. This results in 100’s of hours of wasted time and a high probability of errors. Such practices also eventually lead to system performance issues. This how-to guide will enable clients and OTM users to setup Fuel Surcharge using Rate Factors. Once setup, clients will be able to simply enter the periodic rate factor changes and OTM will automatically create all the rates with a single click of the button. The presentation will go through the different methods of Fuel setups, show the users how the rates are created and how to troubleshoot any issues.
